Chock Full of the Sweetest Things

Chock Full of the Sweetest Things

It’s Father’s Day weekend and our daughter and her family
came over to celebrate two days early.
The golden hours passed so quickly;
each precious moment chock full of beauty,
the ebb and flow and give and take
of conversation, interaction,
the breaking of bread;
Relationship.

My heart is so full of the sweet!

The value. The significance.
The gifts experienced thru each thread shaped like this
is something not lost on me…and it shouldn’t be on anyone.
Most of us can attest to the fact that family can be a many splendored
but complicated thing not always easy to navigate.
Oh but the wealth and value of things learned and taught!

Sometimes it can be a bit of a challenge to comprehend
exactly what might be what.

The course of the past week has been an emotional gauntlet;
we’ve shared great joy in the moments given us to celebrate,
weep still in our grief and loss
over a precious member just passed away.
We labor long and lift in prayer difficulties yet troubling
that are simply too heavy for us to carry.

The important thing to note…
at the end of the day the only thing that really matters…
is unconditional love.

Thank You, Father God,
for weaving such complexity into life,
I suspect that our time here on earth
might be all the richer for it.
Diverse and intricate; countless threads.
And though oftentimes I wish things could be a whole lot easier
something would become lacking and lost in such state.

The Higher Quality of Life.

Last night before before leaving to go back home
our grandson, Holden, was playing with the figurines
of the Nativity, set up in our living room
as a year-round display.
In the final moments,
as it was time to go,
he laid all the figurines down,
tucking them in for the night.

It took but a moment for the sweetest thing to note…
one character out of them all is left standing up!
The Shepherd is there to keep watch through the night.

The sound of this truth still resonates this morning.
The love expressed brings tears to my eyes
and a fresh wave of goosebumps.
Thank You, Jesus, for keeping such faithful vigil.
Thank You, LORD, for ALL the people!
Those in my life now and those held in memory.
Thank You for the gift of this life…
and its cherished, priceless qualities.

“The LORD watches over you…”. (Psalm 121)
God gives to His beloved even in their sleep.”
Psalms 127:2b NASB
