I’m not entirely sure what to make of it.
Three times I’ve heard
(once, even, definitively saw)
precipitation falling…
when there was none at all!

First time, a few months ago,
I was sitting alone in a place called Brew
cup of coffee in hand,
watching raindrops fall half an hour.
When I got up to leave,
walked out the door,
everything outside was
as dry as a bone!
Silly me!
Not a single drop?!
How very disconcerting!

Second time, this past Friday,
I had set out to help
with our church’s clothing ministry
when I hear the sound of bits of ice
pelting my truck!
Blinking my eyes,
I lean hard over the steering wheel!
Try hard as I might;
craning my neck!
I simply see no evidence to
support what I hear!
Five minutes pass;
It seems a long time.
Sleet begins to fall;
elements, pairing!

Third time, this morning.
The sound of a soft rain gently taps
on our back window
as I sit in my chair prayerfully composing.
After about an hour of doing so and listening,
I get up to fix myself
a hot cup of coffee;
look out the front door
expecting to see a wet road
and shiny walkways…
only, it’s happened again!
I’m beginning to feel a bit sad
and a little bit mental!
But now, this time…wait…
for the length of a sigh!
I witness as rain showers
come down in earnest!

“For just as rain and snow fall from heaven
and do not return there without saturating the earth
and making it germinate and sprout,
and providing seed to sow and food to eat,
so My word that comes from My mouth
will not return to Me empty,
but it will accomplish what I please
and will prosper in what I send it to do.”
